i liked the last one. i think i've seen all the news ones.] i sent it to some friends.

you know i was thinking...it's all okay to say, "yeah i believe in ufo's" [which of course i do believe in et life forms cause this earth *cannot * be the best we have to offer the universe in all its vast glory]...but what precisely are we all going to do when 100 ships the size of football fields decide they want to picnic here one day?

;)

Learn their language...and hope we are not as far behind as we might seem.

What if they wanted a few thousand specime...er...people to go back with them and they looked at you and said, "Would you like to come back with us to our planet?"

What would be some things you'd have to consider before even entertaining the idea?

The first thought that comes to my mind is my two kids. Though, I bet my son would want to come along as well. So, I would want my new friends to stop by and pick them up...(if they wanted to go)
And if they did not, then I would not.
Other than that, as long as their term for dissection was not part of the plan, I think I would love to see what I otherwise would never have seen.

Of coarse, not being faced with that reality does leave it rather easy to pose an answer, rather than answer knowing what consequences would actually befall me.

I think mine would be if I'd come back or would have the ability to. To travel to a far away place may be exotic and I am sure I would learn so much my head may explode but I would need to know [at least before I went] if I would have the opportunity to return.

I've never had space travel wanderlust but, in this case, it would be an opportunity to see how *others* live.

You know what I keep thinking about? How advanced I bet that civilization would be compared to our own. I bet they would come to get some ambassadors. Whereas...when I think about if *our world* went to their planet...I shudder to think what might happen - based on history. [Taking over their land, killing the natives, raping the resources, kidnapping the natives for enslavement and free labor, etc....You know. All things that make me ashamed of being part of this race.]

All things that make you ashamed of being a part of this race, is what we have to fear most.
If the explorers from beyond are as advanced in thought as we think...they will see what we have done to our home, and the way we treat each other...and pass us by.
Or, figure us to be good forced labor....or worse...good food.

Steven Kings take on it was that our brains were sources of power/fuel.

7. Not necessarily.

One of the coolest things I've ever read about alien encounters is that they've been known to disarm highly sophisticated weapon systems. There are military reports about weapons that have been mysteriously disarmed, shut down, or even stolen with little to no explanation for how it happened. Isn't that cool?

So, they wouldn't necessarily pass us by but they might tell us in not-so-subtle ways to knock it off. :)
("knock it off" meaning to stop with all the violence and destruction already)

8. i like that option. i've never heard of that before. my best thinking led me to their destruction of us because we're so harmful. not *murder* us but *exterminate* us because we're pests. however, this is why they are advanced i imagine; they have maybe evolved past "killing" the "killers."

What is the best way to torture a war monger?...take all his/her means to commit war on others away. BRING on the alien peace keepers!
